The linkage between the access control system and the video surveillance system can be realized in two ways:  

The first is hardware.  That is, the dry contact of the output relay of the access control system is used to feed the matrix alarm input module of the monitoring system and the alarm input terminal of NVR, so as to realize the function of image capture and monitoring of the controlled door or related parts.  This type of linkage is the most commonly used in the past, but also the most basic.  

The second is the software approach.  With the support of digital video server (encoder), the access controller and digital monitoring system can realize the dual data exchange function from the device protocol layer to the software database layer.  There is another software way, that is, directly write the SDK of the video capture card in the NVR into the access control system software, and then associate the access control software with the NVR device through the function items of the access control software.  The two software methods have their advantages and disadvantages. The former has the advantages of fast system response and no delay. The disadvantages are that video data must be stored on the local management host, which requires high capacity of the host hard disk.  The advantage of the latter is that the local management host does not need to save the video stream data, and only calls the data in the remote NVR when needed. The disadvantage is that the associated video will have a delay of about 1-3 seconds, and the video before the abnormal situation at the channel cannot be called.  

Linkage video surveillance of the access control system can achieve the following three functions:  

Video footage

Condition monitoring  

To perform this function, the management host of the access control system must be in the open state (the video surveillance system can be in the open or closed state according to the actual functions of the access control product), and the real-time monitoring screen of the access control software must be consistent with that of each channel.  Operators can observe the status of the channel site through the monitoring screen, which is similar to the monitoring function of the NVR.  

Access control system and intelligent building linkage
